Refsnes Composites are a consulting and technology company located in the middle of the maritime cluster on the north-west coast of Norway that provides composite expertise to the infrastructure and maritime sectors.
We are specialized in the design, development and manufacture of customized glass fiber-reinforced composites using the pultrusion technology, and we have years of experience with pultruded profiles for various applications. Since our first encounter with pultruded composite materials in 1997, we have continuously improved our knowledge and our ability for innovative thinking, and can be an ideal partner for your next project.
Composites are made from two or more individual materials, and in our case it is fiber-reinforced composites. Reinforcement such as glass glass fibers or carbon fibers combined with polyester, vinylester or epoxy resins. Additives are added to the resin to achieve spesific properties. Other material combinations are also possible, and the composition of reinforcement, resin and additives will depent on the area of use and required specification.
Pultrusion is continuous process for the manufacture of advanced composite profiles with constant cross-section. The reinforcement are impregnated with resin, pulled through a heated die and cured. The profile is structural stable and ready for further processing immediately after leaving the die. Almost any profile shapes can be produced and the pultrusion technology enables complex profiles to be made.
